Autumn is in full swing in North Central Wisconsin. This week are blessed with a bit of Indian Summer weather, so you need to make a point to get out and enjoy it. One such enjoyable and thrilling ride is riding The Comet, the Granite Peak chairlift that offers fall color rides up and down Rib Mountain.
The Comet Sky Ride is a six seat chairlift operated by Granite Peak ski resort. Typically The Comet runs pretty fast, shuttling skiers up the hill, but in the fall they slow things down for a leisurely six minute ride to enjoy the sites and colors of the area. Purchase your tickets at the base of the hill and take a ride up. Once at the top, you can get off and wander around Rib Mountain State Park and then get back on for your return trip.
Weather permitting, the Comet runs for the first two weekends of October. The Comet will be operation this Saturday and Sunday, October 8 – 9, from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Admission is $8.00 per person. Children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
Thank you to Eva Donohoo for shooting this video on her ride down the hill.
