Memorial Day has made this week short. I love the three day weekend, but it sure can make getting back into the swing of things during the work week difficult. At least summer has arrived and the kids are (almost) out of school for the summer. Each week I’ll try to share a different summertime activity to keep them busy. If you have a kid’s summer activity you want to promote, drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org. Read further about our first kids’s summer activity provided by Day’s Bowal-a-Dome.

Coming this weekend is the first performance of Wausau’s newest theatre group, the Actor’s Reading Theatre. ACT is a little different than other theatre companies in that the performers dramatically read from the script instead of memorizing their lines. This deconstructed performing style makes it easier and faster for ACT to launch new productions; in fact they have an ambitious 5 show schedule for the rest of year. See their first play, “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” this Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2:00pm at the YWCA in Wausau. $10 General Admission.
As John over at Sprocketz will tell you, cycling is a great means of alternative transportation. But in order for bicycling to remain viable, both cyclists and motorists need to observe the rules of the road. The State of Wisconsin classifies bicycles as vehicles and bikes must follow traffic laws when operating on the roadway. Motorists also need to respect the needs of cyclists and give them 3′ when passing them on the roadways. This Public Service Announcement tells more about Wisconsin’s bike rules.
