The Wausau area is gripped in a heat wave of epic proportions. Well, it may not be that bad; but it’s still pretty hot outside. Between the midweek Independence Day celebration and this hot weather, it’s going to be tough to get the week finished out. But things should cool down by the weekend. Need a cool place to hang out today? The Marathon County Public Library will be showing movies in the Wausau from 10:00am – 8:00pm in the Wausau room. While they didn’t announce the titles, they said the selection would appeal to an adult audience.

Closing Thoughts

Independent’s week is July 1-7. As the United States marks the anniversary of declaring independence from outside control, communities nationwide are also celebrating the independent businesses that provide opportunities for personal freedom, local self-reliance and form the backbone of our local economies. The 11th annual Independents Week is a celebration of entrepreneurism implemented by community organizations and businesses with support from the American Independent Business Alliance. In your holiday travels this week and throughout the summer, please consider the local businesses in the communities you visit. They need your help too!

On a side note, we celebrated our 4th of July a little early with fireworks over at Willow Springs Garden. Head on over to my blog to find out why this needs to be the go-to spot for your Indepence Day holiday tradition. Have a great rest of the holiday week and don’t forget to buy local!
