This week the weatherman asked the question: is this our January Thaw or an early spring. I’m putting my money on the January thaw. With temps in the 30’s, it certainly is nice outside. But it looks like colder weather will soon return, so enjoy it while you can.

WAtch your mailbox for the January Deal-a-Rama postcards. This month we’ve sent cards to over 5,000 homes in the Wausau and Weston area. If you didn’t receive a card, you can stop at Jackie’s Attique in Rothschild to pick one up. I’m also looking for additional drop locations for cards, so if you business would like a couple dozen to distribute, let me know. Space is available for the February card, which will be mailed on the 12th of February. Postage may be going up but the Deal-a-Rama is still a great deal at less than a nickel per impression.
YWCA Men Who Cook
The YWCA’s Men Who Cook event is fast approaching. My table of 8 is sold out, but plenty of other seats are still available for the Saturday January 19th event. At Men Who Cook, local celebrity chefs prepare an elegant four course dinner for a table of eight. Cuisine ranges from American, Continental, Mediterranean, South Pacific, and more. I’m doing a French meal based on the food and culture of the Alsace-Lorraine regions of France. Follow along this week with my dessert, a delicious Rum Cake.

Email Newsletters for Business
Did you know that 94% of Americans use email on a daily basis. (Makes you wonder what the other 6% do). Coming in February I’m offering a class in creating email newsletters for your business. Even if you use social media to connect with your audience, email is still valuable. I’m you’d agree since you’ve read this newsletter at least this far. Registration is through the UWMC Continuing Education department and details are on the blog.
Making the rounds to area businesses after the holidays, I’ve been taking an informal poll on how their shopping season was. Things are sounding optimistic as most shops are reporting either slightly above or well above sales for the season. That’s great news to hear.
