The dishes have been washed and the kitchen is cleaned up; Saturday evening’s YWCA Men Who Cook Event was surely a success. This was the third year I participated in the event, and I think with each year I end up having more and more fun. For as enjoyable as the evening is, I ended up putting in a solid 14 hours of work to make my meal a success.
I think the reason I love this event so much is because of the amount of dedication and energy all the celebrity chefs put into their dishes, all while having a great time. I also love how the local community supports this event; the YWCA had near sellout attendance. This year’s event was the smoothest one yet that I participated in, so I’d also like to extend a special thank you to this year’s Men Who Cook committee and also my volunteer waiters: Claire and Mackenzie. You ladies did an awesome job.
Here’s to looking forward to the 2014 Men Who Cook Event. I hope to see you there.
As a side note: I had a few requests of where I got the recipes for the bread that I served at this year’s event. I love the recipes on the King Arthur Flour site; I’ve yet to run into one that didn’t work for me. The two breads that I featured where the French Herb Bread, and French style Country Bread.
