To help encourage financial literacy, AbbyBank is working with area high schools and their DECA and FBLA programs by sponsoring the Producing Future Leaders video contest. Students have created short videos with financial literacy themes, and AbbyBank invites you to view them online and vote for your favorite video.
Three area schools have created videos for the contest, Wausau West High School DECA, DC Everest Senior High FBLA and Mosinee High School DECA. These videos help students with hands on experience in communication, marketing, business and leadership skills. “AbbyBank wanted to create a way to offer financial assistance and help students learn needed business skills for the future, all while addressing the financial literacy needs in all of our communities,” states Jenny Jakel, AbbyBank’s Executive Vice President.
“As a locally based financial services provider, AbbyBank actively promotes the economic health of our communities and believes it is important that our youth gain an understanding of personal financial matters — savings, budgeting, and setting personal goals.” continued Jakel.
You can help your local group by going to AbbyBank’s Facebook page and voting for your favorite video. Voting is open from November 4 through December 30, 2013. Winners will earn cash prizes for their DECA or FBLA chapter that can be used for travel expenses to state or national DECA or FBLA competitions. Winners will be announced on January 7, 2013.
