150 Years and Counting. . .
This week marks the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln delivering the Gettysburg Address. As you remember from history, Gettysburg was one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War and a turning point in the conflict. Lincoln’s address was meant as a way to heal the nation as much as it was to enshrine the memories of those served in the Civil War. This Sunday the Marathon County Historical Society has a lecture on the Gettysburg Address by noted local Civil War Historian Brett Barker.
Business Member News
Question of the week: “How do you come across all these great articles from local businesses?” I scan the social media channels and constantly talk to our local business members to come up with article ideas. Your Facebook post may only be seen by 10% of your audience, so when it gets picked up in this newsletter, it’s viewership increases exponentially. That’s one of the benefits of being a RelyLocal Business Member. Contact us for more. . .
The Wedding Store
As we come in to the winter months and pending holidays I find myself reflecting quite a lot on the past year and how quickly it has gone by. A little over a year ago we decided to open this little shop that would act as an incubator, if you will, to small businesses that service the wedding and event industries. Little did I know what we actually would turn in to! A true one stop wedding and event planning shop and service. It has been a wonderful ride so far! Now that we have successfully gotten through our first year (almost), I am confidant that we have many more beautiful and fun years ahead!
Thanks so much to everyone who has been there for me to bounce ideas, thoughts, worries, and many times, complaints off of.
Keep us in mind for your business holiday greeting cards! More about The Wedding Store. . .

Finding your own accomplishments is often the hardest part of resume writing. When most people look at themselves, they don’t necessarily see the things they have done as accomplishments. They are looking for the glowing moment when they stood on the company podium getting accolades from the CEO as the accomplishment. What they should be looking for is the improvement that they put in place that changed the process from failure to success. It is those things that keep companies running in the black.
