Local boy comes home . . .

David Huchthausen got his start with a glass kiln at the UWMC art studios in 1970. From that humble beginning, his career as an artist spanned four decades. Now the Seattle resident is back home with a retrospective show at the Woodson Art Museum. His work throughout the past four decades has altered the history of contemporary glass. Deliberately enigmatic and mysterious, Huchthausen’s work – from his earliest mixed-media sculptures and fantasy and landscape vessels to his trademark integral color laminations and spheres designed to be examined from all directions – strives to tantalize and challenge viewers.

Goin Postal Wausau

Tip 1: Do not wrap your package in any sort of paper, brown paper, white paper, wrapping paper etc. If the wrapping rips off the box, your label may rip off also and the driver will not know where to deliver it.

Tip 2: Make sure you use a strong and sturdy box, because the more times you use a box it loses its original protective qualities. If you must use a secondhand box, be sure to remove all labels and other shipment markings and to make sure that the secondhand box is still rigid and sturdy.

Of course the biggest tip of all is to take your packages to Goin’ Postal Wausau, your friendly neighborhood shipping store.

Credit Card Processing, Easy Money Saving Tips!

As the holidays kick up into high gear, Rick Montgomery of Northern Air Merchant Services offers these great tips to help protect you and your business from credit card fraud. Preventing fraud is one more way you can keep costs down. Here are some telltale signs that can tip you off to potential fraud.

1. Watch for customers who purchase a large amount of merchandise without regard to size, style, color or price.

2. Don’t ask questions on major purchases

3. Try to distract or rush you during the sale

4. Make purchases and leave the store but then return to make additional purchases

5. Make large purchases just after the business has opened or as it is closing and refuse free delivery for large items.

6. It is also recommended that you keep your terminals up to date to avoid any compliance issues.

EMV (Euro Mastercard/Visa) will be required by Sept 2015. EMV means by Sept. 2015 all cards credit and debit will be  issued with an electronic chip embedded. Your card reader/terminal MUST be able to read these chips by this date. All risk will be placed upon the merchants for any fraud occurring events after this date, if your terminal does not read chip. Is your terminal EMV capable? For more information about merchant processing, please call Rick Montgomery at 715-889-2409 or email rick.montgomery@fdiswi.com.
