This morning at our popular Local Business Roundtable, Annette of Caring Transitions of Central Wisconsin brought up an interesting topic. Christmas is a time when we are often visiting our parents, grandparents, and elderly relatives. Giving gifts to our older loved ones can be difficult, as they may have different needs and tastes as the younger yet. But according to Annette, practicality is the key. Get them something they can use or may need on a daily basis. My grandfather loved flannel shirts, so it was a no-brainer to stock him up with new shirts for the holidays. Gifts aside, sometimes a visit is all it takes to brighten their day.
Time is running out. With just a few days before Christmas, do you find yourself struggling to find that ‘perfect gift’ for friends or family? How about a Wausau Chamber gift certificate. One of the enjoyable parts of Christmas season is my annual Tom and Jerry from the Domino Bar. The warm sweet drink always brings up childhood memories of Christmas. This week I ran across an audio story that shared those same memories of Tom and Jerrys, holiday drinks, and Christmas past. Writer Julie Buckles’ grandfather was famous for the holiday cocktails he served in his Viroqua basement. You can hear the story on Wisconsin Life.
Have a merry and blessed Christmas.
