The Memorial Day weekend may be the official start of summer, but you know that summer is hear when lawn chairs populate the 400 block and music can be heard emanating from the downtown square. The first big event of the summer is Frontier Fest this Friday, May 30, starting at 6:00pm. Hear bands Windsor Drive, Tuscan Road, and Spicy Tie Band. Proceeds from food and drink sales will support the Neighbor’s Place and Humane Society of Marathon County. Plus kids from Peyton’s Promise will be collecting non-perishable food items, so please bring a donation for the area food pantries.

Closing Thoughts

Robin-Last-to-Leave-the-Nest
The last robin, almost ready to leave the nest on our porch. The first, and smallest, left yesterday. I think he didn’t mean to, but fell out of the nest. For most of yesterday, hopped around the porch and hid under the furniture. I didn’t see him this morning, so I guess he flew off. Two more took off this morning, and about an hour after I took this picture, the last bird flew away to make a life for himself. Our family of Robins return to the same nesting spot year after year, so it’s fun every spring to be able to watch the birds grow.Want to get your information into the next newsletter? RelyLocal Business Members receive access to the newsletter as a benefit of membership.
