What do Fathers want?
This weekend marks the 1-2 holiday punch of Flag Day and Father’s Day. Flag Day was first established on June 14, 1777 by the Second Continental Congress. While not an official Federal Holiday, a national Flag Day Holiday was established by congress in 1949. Today Flag Day gives us another opportunity to show our patriotic spirit and pride.
Father’s Day, first celebrated in the turn of the last century, was created as a complement to Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day is easy, it’s the holiday of spring flowers, Sunday brunch, and handmade gifts from school. Father’s Day on the other hand seems to slip by the national consciousness. But that’s ok, as most fathers don’t expect or want the fuss, but instead are satisfied with the unspoken recognition and the ability to spend the time with family at a picnic or outdoor activity. Just being appreciated for everything that Fathers do can be the most precious gift. I’ll be spending my Father’s Day celebrating my daughter’s recent high school graduation, of which I couldn’t think of a better gift.

Do stocks become less risky as time goes by? One area where many professional advisors disagree with academics is whether stock investments tend to become less risky as you go out in time. Advisors say that the longer you hold stocks, the more the ups and downs tend to cancel each other out, so you end up with a smaller band of outcomes than you get in any one, two or five-year period. But this is only half the story, continue reading to find out more. Want more honest, unbiased, investment advice? Contact Financial Fiduciaries in Wausau. . .

While wandering downtown Wausau on Thursday, I took this picture. But I also had a great conversation with a person that moved to the area from Green Bay. They were amazed at the history and vibrancy of our downtown area. In talking with him, I realized that we really are blessed with an active downtown area. While many communities have seen their downtowns decimated by business moving to the outer rings, Wausau has seen over 30 years of down growth and regeneration. Will the changing face of retail shopping affect our community’s future growth, or will our community leaders be as forward thinking as they were three decades ago in bringing redevelopment to our inner core? We’ve got a great thing going in this city, let’s keep moving forward.
