Thomas-Street-road-constructionConstruction has started on Thomas Street from the Wisconsin River bridge westward to 17th ave. This construction project is to place a think layer of asphalt on the roadway to smooth out the cracks and potholes and to gain an extra bit of life out of the street until the major reconstruction project can be performed, sometime in 2016.

According to project manager Adam Wesolowski:

It is anticipated that during the week of June 30th (2014), the City of Wausau Department of Public Works will be utilizing a flagging operation to repair asphalt patches on Thomas Street from the Wisconsin River to 17th Avenue.  Motorists can expect delays during this maintenance operation.

It is also anticipated that beginning July 7th (2014), the City of Wausau Department of Public Works will be closing sections of Thomas Street from the Wisconsin River to 17th Avenue.  The closures are required for paving operations.  The closures may change daily depending upon work operations for that day.  Detours will be posted by the Department of Public Works.  Motorists should anticipate delays.  The entire paving operation is anticipated to last two weeks
